[Music] hi Jeff Cote here with Pacific yacht systems we're gonna be talking about masks is really your ACDC panels aboard your boat here's an example of a DC panel DC panels are connected to your batteries it's direct current you know you can have a 32 volt panel a 24 volt panel a 12 volt panel but that's basically what is running off your batteries your AC panel on your boat is things that are connected that are more either from shore power from your generator or even your inverter so what happens is over time you know when you think about when our boats were built not all of us are buying boats today there's actually a lot more stuff that we have a lot more electrical loads that we have on our boats and so it's not uncommon even for a boat built in 1990 even 2000 2005 for the DC panel to be right now overfilled there's not enough circuit breakers to actually do everything you want to do so one of the common projects that we tackle is actually changing or upgrading the DC panel on a boat so that the panel actually reflects all the electrical loads on your boat you don't want to have everything on a boat to be unswept you won't have as an owner as an operator of a boat you want to have the ability to turn off circuits on and off so that you don't have what are called ghost loads so you can manage the power draw on your boat and you have can control so that your batteries last longer and you can stay at anger for a longer period of time so here's an example of a pretty traditional looking panel we do modern ones there's all these different sizes shapes and we can definitely help you choosing one and installing one you know you're gonna have modern switches which are a little bit easier to understand they come in different formats small and big we can help you choose that as well and you even have this light lifting nifty device that we put on a lot of panels right now we're doing a sailboat this week and we put one of these on board you know now they have USB connectivity right of the panel so they can charge their iPhone their cameras and that's really nice and convenient so electrical panels are really the nervous system of your boat and that's where everything interconnects and it's important to have something that's clean organized so that whenever there is a problem you don't look for troubleshooting and ten too much time wasting your time trying to understand what's happening in the black so neatness is key you want to make sure that everything is properly labeled and it's easy to troubleshoot if you've got any further questions about how we can make your electrical panels easier or better contact us at pacific out systems thanks for watching you
