hi Jeff Cote with Pacific yacht systems what we're going to talk about next is isolation transformers what is an isolation transformer and why should you care or have one on your boat we you'll find a lot of boats actually come with an isolation transformer and it's really a really good way to protect your underwater metals from Straker and corrosion it's really there's really no downside of one of these devices other than three variables one is the price the weight this unit weighs about 250 pounds and the volume in an ideal world if we all have large boats with lots of space and money wasn't an object every boat would have an isolation transformer right it's a way for you to guarantee that you'll never gonna have reverse polarity on your boat it's a way to make sure that you're not gonna have straight current corrosion on your boat from AC shore power sources so really there's no downsize and when you buy them you buy them based on 30 amps 50 amps some come with boosts there's all these different models this is generally a long lead time because they're actually made to order but it's a great product and we install them a lot on boats that are probably in the 40 50 and I've even done sailboats well I've done a few syllables that are in the mid 35 range and the owner was really concerned he was in a bad marina lots of street current and he wanted to make sure that his underwater metals his prop at his shaft because it was a folding prop we're gonna be affected and so we ended up installing an isolation transformer if you've got more questions about our isolation transformers reach out to us thanks for watching
