[Music]  hi Jeff Cote here with Pacific yacht  systems and we're going to talk about  next is a is a is is stands for  automatic identification system it's a  mean of transmitting basically effective  virtual business cards across VHF  frequencies so that you actually can  know everything about a boat in terms of  its name its destination its width its  length and also the speed on ground  course or ground of that boat so you've  got some choices when you're deciding  about if a is is right for you one is  are you gonna choose a Class B receiver  only because as recreational boarders  we've got Class B receivers so you can  see other boats but they can't see you  or you choose a transponder receiver  class be like here and other boats  aren't seeing you and you see them so  it's basically duplex conversation  receivers come in different shapes black  box like for example this garment or  some VHF radios actually have you can  choose them with a Class B a is receiver  built in which is really handy what I  like about a is is it's really not a  replacement for radar but in addition to  radar big fat I have for example on my  own boat I have this xB 8000 on my own  boat installed it love it it's basically  a really good way for us to make a lot  of navigational decisions on if we're  gonna do a pass if there's something  behind an island that is gonna limit our  maybe maneuverability it's really good  for collision avoidance this device for  example integrates to any chart plotter  it could be from any manufacturer via  enemy 8000 or enemy a zone around zero  one eight three you can even have it  displayed via Wi-Fi to your iPad and  have I neither X so it's really a good  way for boaters to actually see other  boaters as long as those other boaters  are transmitting their position and  commercial operators by law which are  Class A have to be transmitting not  everyone of course as a recreational  boater is transmitting but I see an  uptake every year in terms of voters  deciding to put a transponder on their  boat if you've got any further questions  and trying to figure out which a  solution is right for you give us a call  or contact us at pacific yacht systems i  will be glad to help thanks for watching
