[Music] hi Jeff go to here with Pacific yacht systems a common question that we get asked all the time by fellow boaters is what's the difference or what is enemy 2000 versus enemy zero 183 enemy a stands for National Marine Electronics Association and basically their two protocols two means of communicating between devices on your boat it could be from your VHF radio to your char plotter from an instrument to your chartplotter basically how do you share information between different devices on your boat and it could be from one manufacturer to another or even within a manufacturer so when you think about enemy 82,000 here are kind of common bits and pieces that you see probably coming with your chartplotter it might be a Garmin might be Raymarine might be Simrad and you have these T's and basically what it is is enemy 2000 is what's called that bus topology as opposed to serial and what is serial serial is two people talking when I talk you listen and when I the other person talks I listen so basically it's not any to any it's specific someone's a talker and someone's a listener someone's a transmitter someone's a receiver and when you're setting up an enemy a 0 1 a 3 Network you've got to make conscious decisions ok now this device for example my char plotter is going to be transmitting GPS information who needs to listen to this information it might be your VHF it might be your radar and might be another device maybe another device on your boat that needs GPS and so you're gonna be setting up this protocol you've got to constantly think ok what does what need who sends that information and it can be tricky on large boats where we had many devices it would take a lot of time for us to figure out what is what how do we match the port's colors everything and often you'd make errors and you'd find out over time within any mm it's dead simple as long as you set up the bus properly you don't have to worry about what talks to what because all devices are interconnected and the devices by themselves are gonna be listening for the information you tell them to listen to but you don't have to worry about figuring out who needs to listen to GPS who needs depth who needs routing information who needs a compass information all of your network is going to have that information and whatever device is on that MEA 2000 Network can decide to pull the information or push into information on the bus so any 2000s purpose is really to make your life as an installer easy and if you've got further questions on to me a few thousand check out our tips and tricks on installing an enemy 2000 network on your boat thanks for watching
