hi everyone we've got a question from a fellow boater named daryl daryl is tackling an led project on his boat he went to his chandlery marine channel to buy some led lights and he swapped his incandescent lights for led lights and they weren’t working so the question was why question further goes um i went to the store and was told that if my lights were reverse polarity my led lights would not work well actually it's so far so good everything that was mentioned by daryl in his email or in question uh sounds true and i noticed the very same thing on my boat let’s just say that many boaters and many boats light systems on board where it really didn’t matter in the past if positive was negative or negative was positive the light would still work and so many builders or electricians or do it yourselves you know wouldn't really notice an error when they were wearing alight on their boat and if they had mistaken the colors because a lot of them weren't red or black or red and yellow but you know blue and brown and sometimes you know those colors can be accidentally intermixed and so in this case of daryl someone in the past accidentally mis wired uh the light son his boat or some of his lights and when he switched those incandescent light bulbs for led the led bulbs did not work now it doesn’t mean that the led bulbs don’t work it means that they expect positive on the positive side of the circuit and they expect negative on the negative side of the circuit so the quick fix is just to simply take a multimeter and make sure that you have the right polarity at your fixtures where you expect  should be  and not negative  or negative .swap the polarity around redo the connections at your light fixture and now the leds should work so that's a great question by daryl and it happened on my boat too i remember when i switched to led i had the very same problem so great question daryl andthanks for asking and thanks for all ofyou for watching i appreciate it ifyou're curious we've written wholearticles about this go on our websitesearch it outand we've got a lot of other tech talksabout this very topic if you haven'tsubscribed to this channel please doum it actually it really does make adifference it encourages us to keepposting so if you're watching this videoand haven't had a chance to subscribe wereally do care because the more of youthat are watching the more of us overhere are willing to spend more time increating content so thanks again Videolytics
