right now we are looking at bills wiring where the positive connection between the bilge pump and the switch is lying actually in the bills water notice how the heat shrink butt connector is not heated and therefore provides no protection against the elements this is serious the non heat shrink positive wire is lying right in the bilge wire a circuit back to the batteries possible via the water through the keel boats and then the shaft through the engine and back to the negative post of the battery sure it's a bad run but a circuit nonetheless a situation like this will result in lots of corrosion on a boat it's worthwhile to inspect the bills wiring and to make sure that no connections are ever under the usual level of the bills water also we often find many heat shrink connections not properly installed take the time to finish those connections and eliminate any corrosion troubles here I am basically just slowly heating the connection making sure that I won't stay in one place too long and I'm also looking or make sure the insulation is coming out from the other side keeping the torch always moving and this is a good way to do a heat shrink it's a little harder to do with just one hand but you definitely want to go slowly and you don't want to burn the wires you can notice right here how there's actually glue that came out from the back of the insulation when it's probably tricked so this is basically what a properly heat shrink connection looks like Here I am doing actually another connection this connection was installed but actually never heat shrink again I'm using a slow moving action just to make sure that it's gonna be a popper and completely sealed connection this will eliminate bill Cheerios are obviously a bad place for moisture and you want to be take away any chance for any moisture to cause corrosion and give you a voltage drop on the water here's what bilge wires should look like when it's properly done notice that connections are much higher than the usual bilge water levels and all the heat shrink connections are properly heated and therefore sealed thanks for watching and safe boating
