jeff cote here from pacific outsystems
uh we've got here a question from a
fellow voter
drew drew asks what would you recommend
to optimize the use of solar panels
when connected to shore power by the way
that's a pretty common question
should i turn off the battery charger
switch and he goes on to ask
disconnect the shore power i'm running
everything i can off 12 volts well jew's
got a common question
as we're adding more and more devices on
board our boats that are enabling us to
recharge our batteries
a lot of us are wondering well isn't
this going to be overcharging bad
batteries could i be adding all these
devices
at the same time and the short answer is
there's nothing to worry about
and the reason why is that all these
devices solar controllers
battery chargers alternators
methanol fuel cell wind turbines are all
voltage regulated devices
so you can have all of them run
concurrently at the same time to a
single battery bank
and that battery bank will not get
overcharged and that's the advantage of
having voltage regulated charging
sources
so drew has nothing to worry about and
it's all good he can have the solar
panels and the shore power
connected at the same time on his boat
so i want to thank everyone for watching
and if you've got fellow questions
uh please send them or post them down
below and
we do this every week and we look
forward to it thanks for watching
