I'm adding solar and lithium to my boat and redoing pretty much everything else while I'm at it. I'm thinking of using a Balmar BRS-2T-12-H Regulator, BRS Single-Stage to keep the charging of the house lithium simple, and then using a DC to DC isolated charger to top off my starting gel battery. Is it correct to use a single stage controller for LiFePO4 drop in 300 amp battery that seems to just require 14.6v? Being a sailboat engine use is limited. - Robert
Good question. We’ve only used Victron charge controllers (configured for Lithium) when doing solar arrays with Lithium batteries. Which “single stage” controller are you referring to? Curious to know about it.
