Where Do I Install a Galvanic Isolator?

Question:

I am looking to equip a galvanic isolator – where can I buy a Newmar Failsafe Galvanic Isolator? Is it critical to have it installed close to the shoreline connection? Is six feet too far away?

Answer:

We sell the Newmar and Promariner galvanic isolators. In terms of location, you want to have it mounted as close to AC shore power receptacle as possible. The reason is the following: you don't want any AC appliance grounding wire to bypass the galvanic isolator. A distance of six feet is OK as long as no AC grounding wire can ever bypass the galvanic isolator.
