I am rewiring my Ranger 23. When I tried to replace an instrument I found that the wiring was a tangle of wires. I have watched all your videos on marine wiring and you always crimp connections. Is there a reason you do not solder them? - Richard
Hi Richard,
Thanks for contacting PYS, your question about crimp vs solder for marine connections is a common one. Since boats are predisposed to vibrations, a solder connection is more prone to failure then a mechanical crimp. When you do a crimp, make sure to do a good pull test to confirm the integrity of the connection. - Jeff
