As an older vessel (1988), my boat, Boogie Woogie, came with an array of electrical issues that needed attention.
I initially contacted Pacific Yacht Systems about a malfunctioning master battery switch. They spent time going through the boat with me and discussing all the electrical issues I wanted to address, such as relocating the stern light, replacing the steaming light, replacing engine room lighting, addressing an inadequate bonding system, updating the charging system, and adding trim-tab controls at the upper helm.
PYS helped me sort through options and make the best, most cost-effective choices. They also identified some instances of unsafe wiring installed by the boat’s previous owners, such as overloaded distribution bus bars and improper fusing.
After our meeting, I sent PYS a work order for the projects I wanted to tackle in various stages during the off-season, and they came back with a budget that later proved to be accurate and reliable.
"Every single thing that PYS said would happen during the project happened just as they said it would, exactly when they said it would," says John. "That is an incredibly rare quality among service providers in the marine industry."
PYS completed all of the work to ABYC standards and exactly on schedule. I was kept in the loop at every twist and turn of the project. My issues and concerns were addressed along the way. Every single time I stopped by the boat during the project, somebody was there working when they were supposed to be. And when I was less than satisfied with any aspect of the work, corrections were made at no additional cost. Also, during the project, PYS detected and repaired an overheating AC bus, a fire hazard that could have put lives at risk!
I work with a lot of sub-trades in both construction and boating and have rarely been so exceedingly satisfied with the quality and reliability of any vendor. I am pleased to recommend Pacific Yacht Systems without qualification or hesitation for any electrical project on your boat or on any vessel in your care.
I hope you take the opportunity to work with the guys at PYS. You won't be disappointed.
