June 2-4 – The 14th Annual Pender Harbour Blues Festival is held at various locations such as the Pender Harbour Community Hall, Pender Harbour School of Music, John Henry’s Marina, Royal Canadian Legion, with dinner shows at Upper Deck Cafe (Secret Cove), Harbour Spirit Centre and The Restaurant at Painted Boat (both in Madeira Park).

June 3 – Boat for Hope Victoria - This annual event, which takes place in Victoria’s inner harbour, brings together the local boating and business community to create an unforgettable experience for kids who may otherwise never be able to enjoy such an adventure.

June 3 – Easter Seals Charity Regatta is a timed three hour points rally around various marks in English Bay and is a fundraiser for the Easter Seals House Vancouver which provides accommodation for families while their children receive medical care.

June 9-18 – BC Seafood Festival – Featuring a star studded selection of chefs and venues around the Comox Valley.  Now in its 11th year, order online as tickets sell out fast.

June 10 – Burrard Yacht Club Classic Boat & Car Show features a great collection of classic cars and wooden boats.  Free Sailing for the kids and a dinner/dance on the breakwater.  This is an annual fundraiser for the Disabled Sailing Association.

June 10 – Boat for Hope Vancouver takes place around English Bay, False Creek and Hastings Mill Park and brings together the local boating and business community to create an unforgettable experience for kids who may otherwise never be able to enjoy such an adventure.

June 10-24 – Van Isle 360 International Yacht Race is now in its tenth running and has grown into one of the most respected and exciting yacht races on the entire west coast, with international media coverage, heart-stopping drama and superb racing action.  The course record for a complete circumnavigation of Vancouver Island is 93 hours, 20 minutes and 20 seconds.  New this year is a sponsorship by Longwood Brewery to raise funds for the local Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Unit.

June 18 – Father’s Day – Don’t forget dear old dad!

June 16-18 – Gibson’s Landing Jazz Festival now in its 22nd year and featuring too many performers to list and a street festival on June 17th followed by a dance at the Gibsons Royal Canadian Legion.

June 22-July2 – The Vancouver International Jazz Festival hosts artists from around the world at a number of different venues around the city.  Why not anchor downtown and take in some cool jazz?

June 23-25 - Annual Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival is 3 days of exciting racing and onshore events.  A big draw is the Survivor Showdown, Abreast In A Boat vs. Butts In A Boat – is a challenge between prostate and breast cancer survivors to help build awareness.

June 30-July2 – Sidney Days is fun for the whole family featuring a pancake breakfast, fun fair, picnic, sidewalk sale and fireworks for Canada Day

 

May 2017

May is Flare Disposal Month – If your flares have a manufacture date of 2013 or earlier they will expire this year.  You can’t throw them away in the regular garbage or set them off so the Canadian Power Squadron and CIL dealers have set up a list of disposal locations and dates.

May 3 – 8 – Ships To Shore King of the Sea – The Kaiwo Maru, a Japanese four-masted training barque tall ship is coming to Garry Point in Richmond.

May 5 – 22 – Feast of Tofino – There are just too many fantastic food venues to mention from patio parties to tailgate parties.  All the meals are locally foraged and boat-to-table fresh.

May 13 – 11th Annual Spot Prawn Festival – False Creek Fishermen’s Wharf – Buy fresh prawns on the dock or join in the prawn boil.  Drink tent with samples from R&B Brewery and Evolve Cellars.

May 14 – Mother’s Day

May 26 – 28 – 10th Annual Lund Shellfish Festival – Enjoy fresh cooked seafood, listen to local musicians, shop local crafts and enjoy special menu items at the local restaurants.

May 27 – Ladysmith Heritage Boat Festival – Features over 20 heritage vessels from all over the West Coast.  Free harbour tours on the Maritimer or take a ride on the new Coast Guard hovercrafts.

May 27 – Bowen Island Adventure Film Festival – A unique opportunity for local residents and everyday adventurers to showcase their passion for sport and the great outdoors by sharing their stories.
