Alan – Masthead Wind Transducer, on Aug 10, 2014 asked:

I am a 9 to 5 working guy with an expensive hobby; I own an old sailboat. Worse, I'm a geek, meaning that I throw money away on marine electronics as well as sailing bits. One of my worst purchases was a Raymarine ST40 wind with Rotavecta masthead unit that does not show wind direction. Now, masthead wind transducers are simple enough devices and I do have some skills, both electronic and mechanical, so I am thinking about just building my own. While the electronic part is simple enough, the actual mechanics could be tricky. So I am looking for some stunningly cheap masthead unit with either the cups and the vane or just the vane itself. It's the mechanics I'm hoping I do not have to reproduce. So, if you have anything like that laying around, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Hi Alan,

Thank you for taking the time to write to us about your instrument troubles.

Unfortunately we do not have any spare parts for wind direction. I would suggest visiting a website like eBay or Craigslist to find the parts you are looking for.
